CNN, NABJ-Nashville, NAACP-Nashville and TSU to Host Exclusive Advanced Screening Of "Black In America 2"

Advanced showing will take place July 16 at TSU Downtown Campus

CNN has partnered with the Nashville Association of Black Journalists, the Nashville branch of the NAACP and Tennessee State University to present an exclusive advanced screening of BLACK IN AMERICA 2 from 6 pm to 8:30 pm, Thursday July 16, at TSU's Downtown Campus (Avon Williams, 330 10th Avenue North, Nashville, Tennessee 37203).

The screening will be followed by a Town Hall meeting hosted by WTVF News Channel 5's Vicki Yates who will also serve as the Mistress of Ceremonies for the evening. The event is free and open to the public and will include special guests and Jewels of the Civil Rights— Kwame Lillard, co-founder of African American Cultural Alliance, Freedom Riders Allen Cason, Jr, Etta Simpson-Ray and more.

"The first installment of CNN's BLACK IN AMERICA generated tremendous discussions in the African American community," said Harriet Vaughan, president of NABJ-Nashville. "Now that part 2 has arrived, NABJ-Nashville, NAACP-Nashville and TSU are honored and thrilled to host an exclusive advanced screening of BLACK IN AMERICA 2 and set the stage for dialogue about the past, present and future of the Black community."

The Nashville pre-screening will be streamed live via internet. Viewers are asked to send in questions and comments to NABJ's Twitter account @NashvilleNABJ. Questions and comments will be read during the Town Hall meeting. Please type #nashvillebia2 along with the question within tweeted messages.

Soledad O'Brien debut the first installment of the CNN documentary in 2008 where she presented a multi-layered depiction of Black America's plight in the areas of education, employment and family. O'Brien is back to unveil Part 2 of the series, which will air July 22 and 23, and will, according to, "…continue its investigation of the most challenging issues facing African-Americans..."
