Unique Media Portal and Online News Community
Expands to 3rd City in the South with Nashville Daybook
Nashville Market Offers Several Key Factors for the Expansion
Unique Online News Community Expected to Develop around Nashville Daybook
Daybook, Inc., headquartered in Atlanta, GA, has announced the launch of Nashville Daybook. The unique media and PR portal is designed to bring local news leads to the area media as well as inform local business and civic leaders. Nashville Daybook is the latest addition to the Daybook family which includes Atlanta Daybook and Dallas/Fort Worth Daybook.
Each local city portal is designed to help PR and marketing professionals deliver news leads and press releases easily and cost-effectively to local media who read the free opt-in online service. Daybook is free to readers and can be accessed via the nashvilledaybook.com web site, the weekday Nashville Daybook email edition or a RSS newsfeed. Daybook clients pay a nominal fee to post their stories for publication on Daybook.
Originally founded in Atlanta in 1990 by Atlanta broadcast journalist, Richard Warner, the service was first known as the What's Up Atlanta news fax service. After 15 successful years in Atlanta, the service migrated to an Internet-based delivery platform with the new name of Atlanta Daybook. In 2005, the service expanded to the Dallas/Fort Worth market.
"As a journalist for more than 30 years, I knew firsthand how valuable local news leads are day in and day out," said Richard Warner, Founder and CEO of Daybook, Inc. and its parent company, What's Up Interactive. "
"Over the last 18 years, we've seen literally thousands of local stories that were placed in the Atlanta and Dallas/Fort Worth Daybooks get local and national news coverage. Stories posted on Daybook also rank highly in search engines for months. That's a huge value to the companies and nonprofits that use Daybook to place their stories."
Nashville Market Met Key Factors for Daybook Expansion
Settling on Nashville as the next city for Daybook's expansion involved several key factors. "We initially considered Charlotte, NC and the Tampa Bay area," stated Karla Sinclair, VP of Operations and Managing Editor at Daybook, Inc. "The key factors were the number of media outlets providing local coverage and the presence of active and thriving professional associations for the media, PR and marketing communities. We work closely with the local chapters of the Public Relations Society of America (PRSA) and the American Marketing Association (AMA) in Atlanta as well as support and sponsor the Atlanta Press Club. Our research proved Nashville to have healthy and growing PRSA and AMA chapters as well as a high density of local reporters who are active in their communities."
Nonprofits factor heavily in the decision to expand to Nashville. "About 40% of the content for Atlanta Daybook and DFW Daybook are related to nonprofits. They are a key sector of our customer base," Sinclair continued. "We were founded as a way for local stories, especially from nonprofits, to make their way to the media. Nashville has a history of ranking high as one of the most charitable cities in the country. We look forward to working with the local nonprofit community in Nashville just as we do in Atlanta."
A Unique Online News Community Expected to Develop around Nashville Daybook
In Atlanta and Dallas/Fort Worth, Daybook serves unique local news communities composed of local journalists, public relations professionals, nonprofit organizations and local business and civic leaders. And it is the non-media readers in the Daybook community that make it unique.
PR and marketing professionals as well as local government officials, leaders in the arts and education sectors, nonprofits, and corporate executives read Daybook each day in Atlanta and Dallas/Fort Worth. And these influencers and decision-makers generate "buzz" for stories on Daybook as well as increasing the pass-along value for the stories. "About 70% of all Daybook readers in both cities are well-educated professional women with disposable income. This is a great demographic for local events and issue awareness stories," said Gay Watson, Contributing Editor for Atlanta Daybook. "We expect the same type of community to develop around Nashville Daybook."
In late 2007, the Atlanta Visitor and Convention Bureau and Brand Atlanta partnered with Daybook to use stories on Atlanta Daybook to power the Atlanta News section of the ATL Insider on the Atlanta.net Web site. Citing Atlanta Daybook as the top local online news community, ACVB and Brand Atlanta now have a custom RSS newsfeed from Atlanta Daybook to the Atlanta.net Web site each day.
"We have a deep involvement with the local community in Atlanta and we are excited about developing these same types of close relationships in the Nashville area," added Todd Livengood, Daybook's Assistant Editor.
